ISF Officer Highlight: Jorge Luis Perales-Garcia

March 6, 2024 Charis Ochu

Originally from San Antonio de los Espinoza, Mexico, Jorge Perales-Garcia joined Hardin-Simmons University in 2022 and is currently an engineering major.

Jorge serves as the International Student Fellowship (ISF) secretary. His role as secretary of ISF involves recording each decision made during every meeting and distributing the information to the officers to be reviewed. Furthermore, he provides feedback at meetings and votes on decisions when required.

“I joined this organization mainly to be exposed to the different cultures that international students bring to HSU,” Jorge shared.

After being a part of the club for a year, he realized he had a passion for the group and wanted to be more involved in the events organized by ISF. This year, for International Week, he will oversee the planning and organizing of Night of Worship, an event aimed at worshipping God through songs in different languages. “There is something very special about being able to worship the Lord with people in their home languages,” he explained. This event took place on Friday, March 1, 2024

After graduating from HSU, he intends to pursue a master’s degree in either nuclear or automotive engineering. Furthermore, he plans to find ways to provide clean and renewable energy or make safer and more reliable vehicles.

For any student interested in joining ISF, Jorge advises to “reach out to any of the officers or members, and we will happily get you plugged in. This club is really something special, so if you are interested, come check us out!” To learn more about ISF, you can follow their social media account on Instagram.
